GMUNK—Tron Visual Graphics
Recently the motion graphics pioneer Bradley G Munkowitz’s, GMUNK, updated his portfolio with eight case studies for the visual graphics and eye-candy work that he lead for Tron. Each of the projects show multiple renders, behind the scenes elements, and beautiful screenshots of the work.
For the entirety of 2010, munkowitz led a black-ops team of GFX all-stars deep into the darkness at Digital Domain crafting over 12 minutes of holographic content for the feature film Tron
Back in the early 2000s I remember being blown away by GMUNK’s work. In fact his work, along with other up and coming interactive and motion designers, was one of my major influences in perusing design.
Bonus points to anyone who makes an animated GIF of his Mandingo Immortal project. I’m sure it’ll be an instant Tumblr hit.

Trent Reznor & Karen O cover Led Zeppelin
After winning the Oscar for scoring The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will be working together again with David Fincher, scoring the english language version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. One of the most popular tracks will surely be a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” with Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Click on the link below to listen to a preview of the song. The quality is not great, as it comes from a recording of the movie’s trailer, but it is enough to get us excited and curious about what the rest of the soundtrack will be like.

God I miss cycling…
Looking at old photos of races, I’m reminded of how much I miss riding.

I really wish I had my bikes with me now, because there are so many excellent places to ride close to me!!!! Big Bear, Joshua Tree, and I’m sure Sequoia would be AMAZING to visit!
I mostly miss the freedom and solitude of the trails. Being out there just going werever the terrain took you, and taking in all that nature has to offer at the time.
The lion is not so fierce as they paint him, does it?
Don’t just read it; fight it! Ask your own questions, look for your own examples, discover your own proofs. Is the hypothesis necessary? Is the converse true? What happens in the classical special case? What about the degenerate cases? Where does the proof use the hypothesis?
